SharePoint 2013 – URL is not a valid routing destination

When configuring a new Send To Connection in Central Administration for a library based retention schedule I received the following error:

Verification Failed: URL is not a valid routing destination

1. Open Site Settings and under Site Actions click Manage Site Features

2. Activate the Content Organizer feature

Note: If you are unsure which Send To URL to use when creating the connection you can obtain this from the Content Organizer Settings page (Site Settings > Site Administration > Content Organizer Settings):
