Using the Merge-SPLogFile cmdlet

The Merge-SPLogFile cmdlet can be a real time saver if you need to search the SharePoint logs and there are multiple servers in the farm.  I regularly use it to search for a specific correlation ID and then open the log file in ULS Viewer, as the output file only contains information that relates to the correlation ID.

Here is an example of how to search using a Correlation ID:

Merge-SPLogFile -Correlation 393aba9d-cdc1-10b7-07f3-7a9276d1011f -Path C:\MergedLog.txt
